Hello, I'm new here. And I'm new to cats too. I have my first pet... which is a stray last time and now I keep it inside my room since she just laid her first kittens. Since then, my housemate complained that the whole house smells terrible even I have use 'cat sand'. Since my housemate have sensitive nose, I cannot use any house perfume.... I would like some idea on how to control the odor in the house. I have let the room windows open to enable air circulation, an open the fan all the time, but my housemate said she still feel its smelly. Any product? any method? Please help. I just need to keep the kitten for 3 more weeks.

Smelly waste is likely due to diet. Base on my personal experience, Whiskas dan Friskies cause my cat's waste smelly. I am using RC Indoor to control the smell. Any premium cat food will do the trick. Just make sure your cat's waste are hard and solid and not soft and watery. Soft stool cause the sand become messy and smelly. In the cat sand box, mix some bicarbonate soda. This will reduce the amonia odour in the cat's urine. Adding some detergent and antiseptic powder into the sand will help too but not too much. Keep the cat sand as dry as possible. Try using Air Wick Odour Stop. Instead of spraying into the air, spray around the area near the litter box. The smell must have stick onto the wall and fabric. The best solution is to monitor your cat diet and it's stool.

Just to add to that, there is a mushroom extract that you can sprinkle on their food that will also reduce/eliminate the pet stool odour.
