"I have cats to give for adoption, please adopt my cats laaaa.. please... I love my cats so much you know but due to some unforeseen circumstances , I have to let go of them bla bla bla" (With all kind of nonsense pathetic excuses)

Why this is happening? In less than a year joining this forum, I have seen many advertisements about “DUMPING” cats. If some of you wonder why, read this!

Case 1

A is not married. He/She is bored living alone without a companion so he/she been thinking of “temporary” companion – cats. But in one fine day he/she got married to a pretty wife / handsome hubby and… ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Case 2

B got married to a beautiful wife / handsome hubby. The first year of marriage, they found that getting kids is a second priority BUT they want to have “temporary” kid, so the handsome hubby went to a pet shop and buy an adorable kitten. Both of them love the cute kitten because the kitten is so cute, rolling on the carpet, chasing whatever things that are moving…. 1 year after that, the “cute” kitten grow mature and start looking for a partner. B and his / her beautiful wife / handsome hubby find it very much annoying and… ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Case 3

D was browsing the shopping mall when he / she bumped into a beautiful kitten in the pet shop. He / she been thinking, why not I take one? Besides, the price is cheap and the kitten is cute. After a year, D found it very boring and tired of all the expenses and responsibilities including medical, boarding etc and … ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Case 4

E is a student in KL. He / she comes from the north/ south of the country. He / she always envy reading or seeing people with beautiful cats. So he / she decided to buy one or two cute kittens. 2 years passed by, he / she graduated from the college and time for him / her to go back hometown looking for a job and … ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Case 5

F and G are married couple who still don’t have a child in their 2 years marriage. They felt lonely and decided to adopt cats despite many people discourage them because they are still trying hard to get a children. But, they don’t care! Few months later, the wife got pregnant and later on gave birth to a beautiful baby human and … ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Case 6

H and I are happily married couple with 2 human children. They always wanted cats and eventually adopt 2 cats for their kids – that is what they think. They knew they have to check whether their kids are allergic to furr first before getting cats but hell, they didn’t do it. After 6 month adopting cats and 6 months going back and fourth to the clinic because their children are allergic to cats and... ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Case 7

K is an expatriate and works in a foreign country in a contract basis ( 2 years maximum). He / she knows that one day he / she will go back to his / her own country but in a same time, he / she wants a “temporary” friend. He / she bought a cute kitten. After two years .. Case 8

L is a local man / woman who always dreaming of working abroad but until the opportunity comes, he / she been thinking to adopt a temporary friend – a cute kitten. He / she knows that if he / she got a job abroad, nobody will take care of the cat but he / she doesn’t care! He / she knows of one place calls SPCA. In one fine day, he / she got the offer he / she been dreaming of for many years and … ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Case 9

M doesn’t believe in neuter/spay. When his / her cats gave birth to many kittens.. ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Case 10

N has 2 cats that he / she found on the street. They are strays short hair. N always likes fancy cats and one day he / she bought a so called “Persian”, DLH actually from someone. N falls in love with the new longhaired cat and tried to get rid of the “strays” that have been living with him / her for many years and... ((the time for all of us to see this kind of thread))

Most of the time the ad. will sound like this " I love my cat very much but I can't take care of them anymore " "Is anybody willing to adopt my cats .......I am selling them at $$$$$"

It's sad enough that the owner cannot take a lifetime commitment towards their cats but it's even worst when try to sell it off.

I understand when SPCA/PAWS ask for adoption fees as they need the money to run the shelter. What I don't understand is how is it possible for individual who claim that they love their cat sooooooooo much can come up with an amount($$$$) for their cats and further sell it off in the name of adoption.

Jay I have to sorry but I misread/misunderstood where I quoted you sir

I took in alot of strays, which was bad on my part. We got too many to give sufficient GOOD life which is why I put a select few here for adoption.

I've not pursued giving them up because it's VERY hard for us to let go of them as each has his/her unique personality & ALL our cats/kittens are loveable & adorable. We love each n every one of our babies.


My wife & I just want to see to it these kids have a good life & lots n lots of love. Hopefully after we move to our bungalow & get our cattery built things will be better. Right now we have to separate into 2 groups as they will fight & with this house we're in now there's not sufficient ventilation for these poor kids.

I do agree with the fact....alot of people get pets for a fancy or a trend but not because they want a life long companion/friend.

If you cannot commit to treating your pet as "One of your OWN family members" then you don't need to be having animals/pets in your house!!!

Let me make a wild guess – They don’t want to pay for the boarding? Yup.. I think the answer is correct. They just realized that they need to come out with MONEY to pay for their cats “hotel”.
