Default recent price hikes and abandoning animals

recently, i've noticed and heard of more cats and kittens dumped. i assume it may be related to the recent price hikes. if you cannot survive, you can hardly be feeding cats and kitten i suppose.

a good friend discovered a PLASTIC BAGful of newborn kittens. (i don't know whether to commend the owner for at least still wanting the mother cat or cursing him for his cruelty to both the mother and the doomed kittens). we ourselves have had a mother and her kittens left ourside our shop. we are now so full, we have had to move some of our adults home. our resources are strecthed too. to the limit.

so here is some advise for those of your who are contemplating, or know of someone who may chose this path, surrendering your pets. PLEASE NEUTER THEM FIRST.

otherwise, you are not only running the risk of damaging the life of one cat but also causing directly the creation of more lives who are destined for naught but premature death, prolonged hunger and at best, re-contributing to the population of unfortunate, unwanted animals.

if you cannot manage to maintain your pets, please at least do them one last favour, be it in recognition of what i am saying, or more appropriately in esteem of the love, joy and companionship they once brought you.

the kindest cut can be performed cheaply at KLINIK KEMBIRI, call Mr Krishnan at 0122581041. remember to ask for your cat to be marked/tipped so that it is obviuos that they have been neutered.

last weekend a fren was there/klinik kembiri to neuter her cats...then came this uncle with a garbage plastic bag with 5 kittens in it..drenched with air longkang...am not sure la which kind of human would dumped those babies in such behaviour...my fren took them home ... ..mr krishnan was so helpful..he provided her with some vitamins and etc...mgb u mr krishnan....btw, for this situation i assume tak ada kena mengena dgn recent hikes..tapi sbb tak sekolah punya mind setting......sikap lepas tangan...

Before the price hike we already see a lot of abandon kittens & cats now I think we will be seeing even more. Only this morning when I was on my way to my shop that I saw a very young kitten probably a mth plus crush semi flat by wheel. I have a neighbor who is directly opposite to my shop who thinks he might have done some very noble thing by buying 3 kg of the low grade dry cat food once a mth or 2 mths once feeding his un-spay & un-neuter cats which is no doubt the mayor contributor to the stray in my row. When I mention about spay & neuter, this ppl think what kind of a devil I'm wanting to do this kind of thing which they look at as cruel but not feeling cruel to see the offspring from their cats been run down or starve.

i know that neutering is not the total answer.
i know that there are people who think it is bad.

but isn't worse to allow starvation, torture and death?

for those of you who think neutering is cruel and evil, i ask you this.

have you ever had to put an animal to sleep because your shelter is full?
have you seen the trust in that animal's eyes even as you fill her viens with a poison that will end her life?
have you felt the life leave her body and WONDER what happens next?

have you picked up the broken pieces of a cat that some car has run over?
have you fed a pregnant cat while you had your 'mamak' and wonder what will happen to her and her coming babies?

nothing in life is black and white, good or bad. everything depends on the context in which it happens. in these situations, where there are not enough homes, neutering definitely is a lesser and necessary evil. if it is at all evil.

Alicia, I was at Pandan Jaya last week to buy kuey tiow goreng when I saw white beautiful cat with blue and green eyes. She was very manja and playful.I asked the kuew tiow goreng man, abang ini sapa punya kucing?? He said,1 couple dumped her at his stall the prevous night. The reason? Fuel hike cannot afford to feed the cat. I walk over to the nasi campur stall and buy ikan goreng and ayam goreng for her.Obviously, she was very hungry. I feed her everytime I pass the area or when I go buy my kuey tiow goreng. I wish I can take her in but my hands are full too.I keep thinking about her everyday though.

neuter and spay is one of the answer...A t first i thounght its cruel too..but when i started to take care of this little cuties, i understand why it is advisable to neuter and spay the little ones..its not cruel at all but ease the tense of the cat, stop dumping the babies at market, food stall..

one more thing people sometimes they like to have a cat ,but they have not
done the research properly such as,knowledge, wether they got enough time for the cat, wether they are responsible enough to take care of the cat,
even sometimes when they see someone own beautiful cat they tend to get one without thinking futher bout it..when they bored with the cats or dogs, they just simply dump them...
like coony said once u owned a cat its a life time responsible..ask urself wether u can take care or not...

So people out there please,dont.......dont........dont adopt a pet if u cannot take care of them,if u dont have enough time,if u adopt because follow somebody...please....if u want to adopt SPAY AND NEUTER THEM

even though we done all what we can do...till the last sweat...I don't think we can tackle a TOTAL of this issue...moreever, when still out there people who think neuter/spay is cruel and HARAM...and the eagerness to see the 'lovely' kittens without knowing the 'results' of it...

errm...perhaps EDUCATION is the answer..for myself, I already established a 'SAHABAT KUCING' in my neighborhood...where, the whole neighborhood will capture cats they can find around the area..and we shared the costs..to neuter or spayed them so do the food. Once in the while, i will 'lecture' about cats and the importance of neuter/spay to the whole neighborhood ofcourse I'm facing the same problem at first...One guy, stand up and say CRUEL and HARAM!...until I explain and show him JAKIM fatwa...

let's us keep on continue do what we can...

That is really a sad story. In my case, I always had been allocating some of my salary for their needs, even for medical needs. I am sure it was at some time a burden, but dumping is never a solution for it. Adoption method is a kind way to do it.

Now, after the last time I lost 8 to sudden death sickness, now I got 12 stray cats at home where I've given home to. And still, it wasn't that much burden also, and I'm happy about it. Because I love cats. And I do still get uneasy feedbacks for stopping at a roadside to pick up poor dying and dead kittens or cats on the road who had been involved in accidents for proper burial or med needs, not to say I like to do it..actually I'm proud to do it.
