hi there. This story is based on my experience.
If I'm not mistaken, 6months quarantine is to make sure the rabies vaccine is working. I think the idea of quarantine is not bringing your cat to other country or something. You need to do RNATT (Rabies Vaccination and Rabies Neutralising
Antibody Titre Test) which cost around RM600+/- with your vet. This is because Sarawak is a rabies-free state in Malaysia and they want to stay that way. The 6 months quarantine does not mean you need to keep you cat in a building you can't see him/her. Because there is a cat doing his quarantine for 6 months at my place, waiting for his RNATT result before flying to UK since his owner need to fly back first else his TR (temporary resident) will be taken away. So, should be, you can do the test and all the procedure needed for importing your cat to Sarawak atleast 6 months before you go back to Miri. You can consult your vet regarding this too. If you don't know any, PM! me, i can appoint you the vet which do all the import/export paperwork of the cat that I'm taking care right now. Hope these helps you in a way. Please correct me if I'm wrong in any of the fact.

Hi Billmeow,

The last time I asked the Jabatan Haiwan at Kuching when I brought in my cat from Sabah, they informed me that bringing in animals from KL to Kuching is prohibited. This was sometime early last year. I am not sure if they have uplifted the ban though What you can do is you can call up the Jabatan Haiwan in Kuching to ask. Usually, you will need consent from the Jabatan Haiwan from KL and Kuching. One consent to export and one consent to export. Once you have obtained the consent, you will need to bring the animal to the Jabatan Haiwan for medical certification and once medical certification has been obtained, you may proceed to make arrangements to transport the animal through MAS cargo. If you intend to bring it yourself will be much more easier. Once reaching Kuching, you will need to hire an agent to help you with the clearance. For my case, I appealed to the Customs to clear it myself to save cost. It was granted. Agent fees is RM150.00 Too expensive.

yes, you can go through the all procedure and bring u cat safely then 2 months before keluar from quarantin...your cat died... then when u check the terms thay are not responsible for the death or any infection of disease on your pets... the you will cry your eyeball out for nothing....

well this what happen to my cat when i bring him from penang to kuching for 6 months quarantine in a smelly and hot cage...evrytime you bring ur cat for a walk on the outside, the dog will bark... imagine...will u let your cat in fear for 6 MONTHS???? and 4 months after that u'll get a phone cal saying sorry, ur cat died the ugliest way u can imagine, in the toilet sand, tongues out and blood running out from the nose and eye socket..... after post mortem, my cat was diagnose with 3 bacteria in his stomach and testicle area.... oh yeah, one more thing, even though my cat died in their retention, i still need to pay the balance of the day that my cat stayed there for few days before it died.

good luck dude/gal... i know some of people here have lots of good story or memories with the jabatan haiwan but from my part, its not...its a big lost for me and my wife and i hope that my cat have found sexy gilrfriend cat up there.
