i let my baby run around the room first.. (he hates the sight of the ear cleaner solution bottle) but i think i'm just lucky that he will tolerate me messing with his ears as long as i get over it.. i use cotton bud to clean the hard to reach between the fold of his ears.. never poked too deep.. and the hardest part is clipping his nails.. he would just never sit still ! it would take me all day to finish clipping all his nails..

Ya, my kucing ni will say, "Yo, you ingat saya akan terpedaya dengan sweet talking tu aah? Please la, kalau mau sedapkan hati saya, bagilah tu Brewer's Yeast sebelum mula kerja; bukan selepas." - Buffy

The rest of them normally already MIA when they see me with a container of cotton buds walking into the living room.

wooz....

Gee, I find nail clipping so much easier than cleaning their ears. I used to take like 20 minutes to clip the nails of one cat in the beginning, today, only 1 minute 30 seconds. If they didn't have fur overflowing all over their paws, 30 seconds quite possible for me. 30 seconds already achievable for the sort haired ones like Spike and Chili.

wooz....

Hi COuntess,
Since exotic post had been quite a while, perhaps i cud assist u. usually ear mites would look like black stains inside the cat's ears. therefore, u wud need to buy those antiseptic for ear mites which u cud get them either fr a pet store or fr the vet. it can be either an ear drop n gel paste.

1st of all, u wud need to a cotton bud n i m not sure how big is ur kitty but get the small size cotton bud for kittens or the normal adult cotton buds for adult cats. u wud need to clean his ears first by using the cotton bud to remove the excessive dirt (mites) n then only u put the antiseptic into the cats ear. Massage his lower ear so that the medicine will thoroughly apply inside the cat's ear b4 u proceed on the next one. Do not worry about poking the cat's ear drum coz cat's ear canal is an L-shape whilst human is straight in but that does not mean u poke the cotton bud all the way in excessively. just remember to do it gently n shud ur cat retaliate, do not force him. let him take a break for 10/15 mins b4 attempting the round.

Hi Countess,
You can also get the vet to give injections to clear up the mites. It's effective.
