Note:
![]() Be extra careful. Cats have long ear canals and improper cleaning can result in a ruptured eardrum, pain or lacerations of the canal. Steps Using warm water 1. Restrain your cat. Wrap your kitty in a large thick towel with just her head exposed. This will keep her from wriggling out of your grasp and save your skin from her sharp nails ![]() 2. Clean the ear lobe. Using a cotton ball moistened with water, gently rub the large pieces of dirt, wax and debris off the ear lobe. Repeat on the opposite ear. 3. Clean the cartilage of the ear. After most of the debris has been removed with the moistened cotton ball, use a cotton tip moistened with water, to gently remove the pieces of debris trapped within the cartilage of the ear. Be very careful not to place the Q-tip down the ear canal. This will stimulate head shaking and can lead to ear trauma. Using cat's ear cleaning solution: 1. Put a drop or two of the liquid into the round opening of the ear canal. 2. Gently massage the base of the ear to work the liquid around. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 on the opposite ear. 4. Free your cat for short while. He'll do a great deal of head shaking, which will dislodge dirt and move it into the outer ear canal. 5. After a few head shake, use clean cotton balls to wipe away oil and dirt from the ear. Good Luck ... ![]() |

Good tips... I've read somewhere, use just cotton. Dont use cotton buds. Tthey might push the dirt further in to the canal. |

Extra caution when using q-tip ... or better don't use for safety reason. Cleaning the canal will do

Ohh yes... that is another way of cleaning your cat ears and at the same time removing the ear mites (by drowning) though a layer of oil at the skin

Those are all good tips...now how do you keep them still when you do that? We all know the towel trick but they still tend to struggle. In my case, after all the sessions of ear cleaning rewarded with cat treats, they still don't like their ears "touched".
Anyone managed to have the perfect session? I find having their nails cut the easiest apart from the brushing sessions. |

Position. The positioning of your patient play big role. i wrap my cat just like wraping a small baby ... cuma kepala saja keluar. Talk to him while u doing your cleaning work. Hold his head with your hand. Your cleaning work must be fast soft. If he struggling, relase him for short while and then start again. It work for me and I never give them any treats ![]() |
