Default I use dishwashing liquid

Hi there,

Just want to share with you how I groom my 3 persians at home.

I use degreaser, texurizing shampoo, dish washing liquid (with water in ratio about 10:1 depends on the condition of the cats) and then conditioner. sometimes I even use vinegar to take out the greasy part... just a little bit will work well, don't put too much or the cats will smell like vinegar whole week.....

Regards,

A new member from Philippines.

Eric

Default one more thing

THere is one thing my wife just told me.

for the yellow stain on the white hair, there is one way you can try, to put a powder of Boric Acid, somehow works as bleach, aplly some on the part that has stain, and the it will go away gradually.

All my 3 cats are tabbys, no white, we just heard that from one of our cat friends, so you can ask around and try that following the instruction on the bottle, hope this can solve your problem.

Regards,

Eric

for now, he's a perfect obedient kiddo who listens to everything i say. he doesn't leave home, and i can leave the window and the balcony door wide open when he's alone at home because he's scared of height, although i don't practice that often, just in case the little birdie outside catches his attention. but the fur thingy, really make me pening la...

For all I know, fur shedding is normal, but how much is normal? I gues if you sikat him and ada fur and after like 2-3 times sikat dah takde it's ok la... sebab I rasa they all mmg kena shed bulu2 yg dah mati tu... kan?

There are a few reasons, yg I tau y they shed banyak, which is to my knowledge je la.. if it's wrong pls correct me

1. Stress (cam takut ke, cam pegi tempat baru and dia cam rimas ke, etc)
2. Selalu tak sikat (for both SH and LH, actually yg kita sikat tu dah lama tercabut just tak gugur atas lantai je.. that's y cam horror bila sekali sikat cam banayk gila gugur)
3. Food (salt too much and kalau kita kasik makan minyak2 pun bulu gugur -kata org tua2 la..)
4. Shampoo (maybe too strong for the cat, like kitten kenala pakai shampoo kitten.. cenggitula.... meaning better yg takde bleach2 tu keee... kita manusia ni pun pakai shampoo main hentam je pun rambut gugur kan?)

Maybe ada lagi reason lain, tapi ini je yg I tau :P

Pumpkin pun shed, tapi bila dia stress and I skip sikat dia one day... next day tu Ya Rabbbbiiiii!!

p/s: one more thing, Pumpkin pun dah terjebak makan wet food... siap kena campur sikit ngan RC dia... kalau tak dia tak hingin... sebab cam RC tu tak bau kuat kot?? Pastu... his pee is like sooooooooo yellow and sooooooo smell like tuna sampai nak muntah kadang2. And the poo... OMG...

so it means dishwashing liquid is not really that bad la... however arwen's condition is getting better... i use cat soap only now. smells good too

arwen and eowyn shed also. but i groom them almost everyday... last few days when i got bored catching arwen to groom her, i played with the bristle brush on the carpet... oh my god, her fur there i a lot!!! i know coz hers and eowyn fur color is different. she's white - eowyn siamese.

also on her face got some nasty dirt (pls refer pic) which is hard to remove. i've encountered this problem before with my missing cat. previously i just rub the thing off as the cat is still small kitten - too much wet food for a lazy cat. u see, that cat is lazy to wash his face after eating so the dirt accumulate on his nose.

any suggestions for arwen???

Hi Faeiza,
yeah, those points that u mentioned r indeed the reasons of shedding fur. Similar like us humans, we do shed our hair either during shampooing or combing. it is a matter of the quantity of the fur shed. of course LH cats do need regular grooming than regular SH cats. The point is watch ur cat n make sure he/she is undergoing a comfortable life (minus the visit to the vet) n also the food. it is ok for us to taste cat food ya know. what i mean take a kibble (or 2) n taste it whether it is salty or not. One kibble dun actually harm us ya know...

is there such thing as nice smelling pee n poo? Just kidding ya. Jgn mare... now, usually cats pee n poo dun REALLY smell so terribly bad unless there hv problems in their digestive system or maybe the kitty litter needs to be clean up.. is Mr. Smashing Pumpkin had this b4 or after the wet food meal?

hi Catalina,
well, i guessed using small quantity of dish washing soap on the affected area on a cat shud pose no problems if indeed it proves effective to remove stubborn stains but i dun really agree bathing ur cat using that of course.

About the dirty markings on Arwen's face, well, it is indeed close to his nose n eyes so using chemicals on the area shud be caution ya. is it possible for u to gently peel of the dirt from the fur /skin using ur nail? sometimes my cat Wesley had discharge from his eye n it got harden just slightly below his eyes. normally, a wet tissue will b able to remove it but there were times the stain is so stubborn that i need to slowly remove it with my nail. if still fails, perhaps u could consult the pet groomer or vet for appropriate solutions to apply..

well, about the dirt on arwen's face...

i've tried to use my nails (they're short - don't worry) the dirt come off but not easily. at the same time, i'm treating her ears for mites. i applied a bit of the solution there the last sunday, and then now the dirt come off easily last night... maybe the mites solution got some softener inside, who knows?

hi crazycat,

boric acid is a chemical. i suggest you not to use it, well, if the powder gets water it will become acid. you have to be really careful with chemicals...

better use the dishwashing liquid. at least it is tested by the manufacturer.
