Hello Laurence,

Your noble efforts does require some applause here. I think what you can do for the moment is to call or write to Sarawak SPCA for some possible solutions. I'm not sure how active they are over there or if they're still there but they might be able to provide you some directions on the way forward. Who knows, they might actually work something out for the folks in Sabah.

Alternatively, the vets themselves though more on commercial attributes; one out of the many might help out. Well, we won't know what their stand is over the topic of putting up strays at their place for an adoption drive but it would be good to know your options. In KL, so far most vets I've been to and talked to, they are willing but sparingly.

As for setting up your own, it all has to do with the commitment. Once you have that, I'm sure you'll find ways to go about this. Just bear in mind, you will find it difficult to do this if your actions are just based on symphathy. I wish you well on your efforts to realise this noble cause of yours.

Just some thoughts.

p/s: oh yeah, if u wanna protect urself fr scratches or bites, u could wear gloves...

I think this is quite to be expected due to the harsh environment these cats live in. I know one tactic of getting strays to know you is firstly to get them used to you. If there is a spot you can lead them to with the scent of the cat food, lead them somewhere very nearby that appears safe. Daily visits until they're comfortable enough to eat with you next to them will make your job easier. Wearing gloves is a good idea when you're handling them and always make sure you have some wet wipes (Dettol) in your vehicle for yourself. I'm not sure about some of you but I remember having this itching sensation for a day or two once.

You don't have to go around with a pet carrier or cage, just get some boxes and make a hole or two on the top. They're foldable and saves space in your vehicle's trunk. Or if you are able to get those box type pet carrier that the pet stores use, all the better.

Wink I think I ought to do something else

Well I think stray adult cats might find the change hard but if left as strays they will breed out there. Meybe I ought to bring home a female and go about getting it spayed. We would not have strays if people did not dump their cats and had them serilized. Those who want cats can't get them and those who have dump them. So human.

Thumbs up One for the Dogs

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your great advice. I will sure look into the things you have said. Tonight I am going on a dog rescue. I hope I don’t get bitten. There is this dog in town that my students parents dumped there because it attacked the neighbours chicken. A more loyal dog you could not find as it come to greet my students every time I take them to meet their mother. It has even started chasing my Land Rover round town in search on it’s owners.

Thumbs up i HAVE FOUND MY CATS

Hi all,
Thanks for all the help and sorry that I have not been here for a while. Been busy with my job. Great news guys Last night one of my students mother phoned up saying that she had heard that her daughter had told her about me trying to save stray cats. She said that she had a friend that had two kittens and she wanted to dump them in the market and was it possible for me to take them. Yep I am now the proud owner or maybe I am owned by two beautiful black and white kittens. They are beautiful. No names yet but we are looking for some. Any suggestions??? This is not the end but the beginning I will continue to fight for stray cats

[QUOTE=peverill]Hi all,
Dear Laurence,

You are a good person, rescuing stray cats and dogs. Kudos ! Those poor unwanted creatures surely need some good samaritans to help them stay alive on this earth where they too have a right to occupy ! Don't you agree ?

I have some names that I really would love to name my cats if I could have some more. I have 2 female, namely Baby & Bubbles. My other suggestions would be Button, Cookie, Belle, Pepper, Snowy (good if it's all white), Muffin, Comot. Oh that's all I have !

Well done and congratulations! Name suggestions: Ebony & Ivory or Subuh & Senja. They are black and white, right? Maybe Dawn & Dusk?

I'm hopeless at naming my own cats ...but great with suggestions hehehe

please post pix when you can!

Question Lets get together

Hi Guys.
Thanks once again. what can I do to help all those poor animals out there. They have a right to a good life. I am a teacher so I can teach my students how to look after pets but I would like ideas from you guys to make this even more interesting. Come up with some ideas that I can use and I will be most grateful. As I am a private tutor I can plan my lessons so as long as my students learn english the subject can be of anything. I have already given my 12 to 13 year olds a composition on animal care. I think this will help all round.
Laurence
