Hi Blackie007 (the owner??),
Lulu is still pregnant, day 67..... Yesterday, I slept on the floor, near her birthing box, she went in and out several times at night ... but no kitties yet. At 5am, I went back to bed and she followed me to my room .... sigh.... Interesting reading about blackie's (the cat) story. He sure is lucky to have found you! How old is blackie now? I am sure being the only "cat" in the family he sure owns the whole house !!!! Though it is sad reading about his other sibling, Brownie, but guess what? Brownie was lucky too! At least he had someone who cared for him despite his illnesses, and though it was soon that he was called to rainbow bridge... at least, he is pain-free now! Thanks for the info on cat tree, will check it out! Till then, take care, be safe and if can, post a pic of blackie la! |

Hi Bina,
Is Lulu in pain? I am worried about her going in and out of the birthing box. It reminds me of those times Brownie went in and out of the litter box (he could poo so I had trained him together with Blackie to use the litter box when they were one month old). He would be in pain and not understand why he couldn't pee. I hope she's alright. Usually animals don't need human intervention in giving birth, but sometimes, if the father is larger than the mother, the babies might be larger, too (that's what I've read before, not something I have first hand knowlege). I'll post pics of Blackie (the cat) later. Friends and relatives of mine have used photobucket, but I didn't realise that's the only way I could download photos in a forum until another forumer taught me. Take care and good luck with Lulu. Do you have any pics of her anywhere in this forum? |

I don't think she is in pain, probably discomfort .... It is so sad to hear about Brownie ... but at least he is now in rainbow bridge, pain-free with his mummy?... Quote:
Shall look forward to the pics of Blackie the Luckie Cat! Lulu's pic is not available in this forum, will post one up soon, with kitties!!! (Positive thinking in progress!) |

Yeah, it's so sad that such an innocent thing should suffer so much in his short life. And he's so cute and heart-breakingly sweet despite his sufferings. I really, really hope that he's now in rainbow bridge and reunited with his mummy...sob sob.... Actually, I don't really know for sure if Brownie a he or she till today. Neither the vets in the clinic nor UPM animal hospital could tell for sure if Brownie is a girl or a boy. On each visit, one doctor would say he/she thinks Brownie is a girl, while on another visit, another doctor would say he/she thinks Brownie is a boy. They say it was still too young to tell. Blackie only started showing signs of being a male towards his 5th month. I hadn't know kittens take this long to develop. Quote:
Am looking forward to seeing pics of Lulu with kitties!!! I bet they'll be very cute. Am going to try to attach some pics of Blackie here, he'll be 3 this Nov 26 or 27 (his mummy disappeared for 2 days), but I celebrate his birthday on 27 Nov.....(just testing, so if you don't see any pics, that means I didn't succeed). ha ha ha, you're probably right, Macgyver. I'm sure the kittens know whether they're male or female by the 2nd month and it's just we ignorant humans who couldn't tell them apart. If only they could talk, I'm sure they would indignantly correct us if we get their gender wrong. You see, I had thought Blackie was a female, until he started to "show". I still remember that very day when I told my mum that it's very possible Blackie is a male, and she couldn't believe it. I mean, this is like nearly 5 months, and we've gotten used to referring to him as a she, and even calling him a real tomboy because he would fearlessly climb and jump higher than Brownie (when the latter was still alive). When I brought him home, he was tiny. He looked more like a baby mouse, (less than 5 inches long) instead of a kitten. Brownie was much larger. I guess due to his smaller size we thought he is a female. But now, he'll put Garfield to shame. He's big and fat.....that's what anyone who met him for the first time say.........waa, so fat ah. ![]() Yes, he's very manja. Last night, due to much caffeine, I couldn't sleep and went back into the living room to read after midnight. He came out of his room, and meowed at him and then went inside. And then, popped his head out again, meowed and went back inside. He did this several times until I realised he wanted me to go read in his room instead of the living room! Right now, he's lying on my desk, one paw resting on my mouse. Last edited by blackie007 : 05-07-2008 at 04:46 PM. |

Wow, Blackie the CAT is so macho! I bet he is so much part of the family eh?
And it is so sweet reading about him trying to get you to HIS room at night! Awwww..... Talking about cat's gender at early age, oh well, I agree human are ignorant and (me especially) silly! Once I sent two 6-7 mths old kittens (shouldn't be too young to determine gender right?) for neutering, I told them one male (ginger kitten) and one female (tabby kitten), I was oh so sure until they said, before the "knife" - "Ginger cat is a female cat!" AIKS! I thought most ginger cats are male and even named "her" TomTom. My Lulu is now walking around meowing, trying very hard to get me into "my" or rather now, "her" bedroom with her kittens. Oh ya, here's one of Lulu's most silly pose for the camera! ![]() |

Eh, Lulu is soooooo pretty. What is her personality like, besides being attached to you? I bet she's very well behaved and nowhere like naughty little Blackie who keeps misbehaving. He likes to pretend that his kibbles are tiny mice. He would dig one after another out from his food dish, pounce and chase them, all the while making those noises like pigeons cooing. Perhaps he has some mistaken identity and thinks he's a pigeon??? He he he, Blackie macho? Looks are deceiving. In reality, he's a real coward. My hubby calls him a pussy (affectionately) while my mum says he was born without a gall bladder. When he sees strangers, he will back paddle, and then take flight. Sometimes if a friend visits while he is sound asleep and he wakes up and walks to the living room to look for me, he'll be so frightened that he'll freeze up in mid-stride like as if an evil fairy had just waved her wand over him turning him into stone.Ha ha ha, you also mistook a female cat for male cat? It's so hard to tell their gender, isn't it? I can't imagine what would it be like had I stuck with the original names I gave him and Brownie. My mum who helped bottle feed them whenever I was out not only had difficulty pronouncing those names, but she couldn't remember which is which, and kept confusing one with the other. She finally referred to them as "the brown one" and "the black one" until I asked if it would help if I were to call them Brownie and Blackie. So thank goodness for that. Otherwise, I don't think Blackie would have appreciated being given a female name! So undignified! MEOW! (this is from Blackie the CAT!) ![]() Here's 2 more pics of Blackie, wrapping himself around my hubby's foot. Last edited by blackie007 : 06-07-2008 at 11:55 PM. |
