Haah.. terlambat sudah..
Baru jer baca poll ni

i choose domestic, why:-
a. Durable - not easy to get sick
b. Affordable - any food will do (no need super premium)
c. Playable - playfull
d. Voiceable - their meows are precious to my ears (it shows their emotional
state of health) so im not look like crazy people talking alone
(at least ada respond). psst I do have pedigree (love them
too very much but no respond when i did the talking.. hehe
mcm tak appreciate apa i cakap)
e. Neuterable - dont feel sorry to neuter/spay.. at least the after result is so
much more positive - healthier, cuter, live longer, better
social behaviour. Pedigree, rasa sayang nak neuter - cause
nak baka pedigree, nak jaga standard, hmm costly.. (what to
do, dah sayang..)

So, i choose domestic...

????

The breeder would know and would advise if the cat should be neutered or not. Unless of course you buy a "pedigree" from a petshop.

As a breeder it is by far easier for me to neuter than to keep entire. Standards and the number of entires in my cattery will tell me whether the cat/kitten should be neutered or not!

It is by far MORE costly to keep entires than neuters!

hmm.. arguable too here.

1) No knowledge of genetic background n generally a lot of strays are heavily inbred which does bring about illnesses.
2) cats whether pedigree or not deserve the best food and nutrition so no substandard food for any cat of mine, pedigree or not.
3)have you seen a sphynx play?
4)there are breeds which are vocal if that's what you like.. there are those with quiet responses.. and then those with no response. so depends what you want.
5) agree with abymummy.. its so much easier to keep neuters, pedigreed or not

1) Agreed but I will admit that domestics are a little bit more street smart than most breeds (except for mine )
2) So very true
3) Sphynx? Have you ever seen an Aby play????
4) Talkers are the Slinkys, less talkative are breeds like mine, and take your pick for the strong and silent type...

Melissa neuter her American Shorthair male without second thought, where she actually can keep the male entire and buy female for breeding. Neuter or not it's depends on what we going to do with the cat not how much it cost to us. If we don't have any intention for breeding why should we let the male suffer waiting for female. He will be more happy and healthier neutered.

Well, i have made my choice based on the general terms of domestic and pedigree. If you want to go into details ie, hundreds of domestic and pedigree breeds..etc, then its up to you.

1. hmm.. does pedigree guaranteed to be free of illness? guess its apply to all cats.. even with all the certs intact.. some of pedigrees still carry some diseases. Whatever it is.. there's still no 100% assurance.. be it domestic or pedigree.
2. substandard.. what matters most is the cat healthy.. be it premium or super premium... are u suggesting me neglecting mycats by way of feeding them with premium foods?
3. sphinx.. my assuptions based on the general pedigree
4. vocal.. i've experienced a few domestic are quiet type.. if you want to go into details
5. neuter or not.. its up to anybody preference. i personally would want to neuter all my domestic.. and my pedigree after 1 or 2 generations.

peace..

But the topic is exactly that... ALL cats.

1. hmm.. does pedigree guaranteed to be free of illness? guess its apply to all cats.. even with all the certs intact.. some of pedigrees still carry some diseases. Whatever it is.. there's still no 100% assurance.. be it domestic or pedigree.
Precisely.. so no matter whether pedigree or not. No cat is more free from illness than another, which makes it impossible to make a choice based on this.

2. substandard.. what matters most is the cat healthy.. be it premium or super premium... are u suggesting me neglecting mycats by way of feeding them with premium foods?
Nope but are you suggesting that you do not feed premium because they are domestic?

3. sphinx.. my assuptions based on the general pedigree
What's a general pedigree? Arent they all pedigree?

4. vocal.. i've experienced a few domestic are quiet type.. if you want to go into details
Yes true, so again, how to make a choice based on this?
