I have eight two-week old kittens that are just beginning to venture forth from the nest. The room that my cat decided to stow the kittens in happens to have brick floors and is my own room so there is a lot of traffic in it and she moved them all to a place under my dresser next to the door. There was not problem until they began to crawl out of the box. My room is the least safe place for a kitten to be crawling around in and I set up a barrier of boxes but the kittens wanted to get out further so I set it back to let them have some room to explore but the door is in the way and I don't want to leave the door open and let the kittens run around the busy kitchen on the other side of the door but my cat has to get out on her own. Would they try to leave the blanket I put down on the brick in their barricaded area? I can't risk leaving the door open as it is.

I think you should invest in a roomy cage to keep all the tiny kittens safe and in one place. It is very, very easy to step on and squash them unknowingly and also to prevent the mother cat from suddenly moving them to some unknown place without your knowledge or disappearing altogether. It will expose all of them to even more unknown danger as mother cats will move their kittens around quite often (by nature and instinct).
If you can afford, do get a 1-tier cage (around RM150), otherwise get 2 units of the cheaper CT52 cages at around RM40 each and attach them together by joining them up side by side. You really need to confine the kittens and not let them wander around like that. It is quite dangerous for them.
