STORY OF A BAD CAT BREEDER

I have decided to share my sad story today , the very same day my Cleopatra died( 13/12/2007 – 10.00 am ). I hope by reading this story , all of us will aware and not to be easily conned by this Back Yard Breeder by the name of MR Gary Lim and I do hope my mistakes will not be repeated by fellow cat lovers .

I ‘m still newbies in this Cat World . Somehow i was so possessed with the beauty of Bengal Cat . Browsing through the internet , I came across Mr Gary Lim advertisment at http://www.adpost.com/my .

On Nov 30th , 2007 , I went to his house with a friend to view his Bangal kittens ending up buying Cleopatra at RM1150.00 . I did asked him about deworming and vaccination . He told me he already gave the kitten 1st vaccine and 1 deworming .He told me that the kitten is 6 month old .( He did not show me any prove of medical record ) .

Trusting what he said to me , I gladly brought back Cleopatra to our house . The first few days Cleopatra do not really eat a lot . I though this might due to the new environment . I bought few gram of chicken meat , boiled it and Cleo did eat those boiled chicken . From time to time I did gave Cleopatra Iams and even Science Plan wet food for kitten . Somehow , Cleo doesn’t really eat much .

On 7th of Dec , while feeding her with Science Plan wet food for kitten , Cleopatra suddenly vomit with dark brown watery vomitus . From then on her condition started to get worst and worst. She eat very less and not as active as before .

I purposely separated my other cat from Cleopatra to check her food and water intake .Sadly I still noticed she eat very less . Cleopatra constantly showing below sign and symptom :

1. Loss of appetite
2. Vomiting – dark green watery vomit’s
3. High Fever
4. Severe diarrhea .

On Sunday 9th , December I decided to called up a Vet Doc . He gave her fluid medicine ( antibiotic ) and tablet to minimize her high body temperature

When Cleo situation doesn’t seem to improve , I decided to send her to the nearest Vet clinic . The attending doctor told me she is still having fever and they will monitor her for 1-2 days giving proper treatment for the time being .

When I went to get Cleo the next following day , the Dr told me Cleo is having FLB .( Feline Panleukopenia Virus ) . Nothing much can be done accordingly to the Doc other then to give the kitten medicine to stop her from vomiting and some vitamin pills .

Extract from the medical report .

“Peripheral blood smear shows very few white blood cells which is abnormal . The differential diagnosis based on history , physical examination and peripheral blood smear were Feline Panleukopenia Infection . The prognosis for Cleopatra is guarded to poor. “

I did called Gary to ask for any partial refund for the problems but he reluctantly disagree with my request . I tried many times to call and sms him but he never want to response .Yesterday ( 12 Dec , 2007 ) I managed to call him using his other phone number and we had a heated argument over the phone .This is what concluded from his point of view :

- I do not know how to take care of the kitten .
- I’ve send the kitten to the wrong / unprofessional doc .
- That he is not to be blame for all this .

When I asked Gary the date of the 1st vaccine given to the kitten , he told me that he cant remember the date .( No proven evidence was given ) Even up until now , I do not know the kitten DOB .


Yesterday at 5.30pm , I took Cleopatra out from her cage and put her in my garden . As for me , I knew she is dying but the least I can do is to let her feel the soil and smell the grass before she died . I hold her gently and gave her fluid glucose to boost her energy .

This morning , before going to the office , I touched her head gently and hold her skinny body .I said goodbye to her coz I knew she cannot last long .Even my daughter ( Irdina ) said goodbye to Cleo . My wife touched her gently too . Cleo was not responding to any of our action . She lay flat with half open eyes .

At 11.00am , I went back home to check on Cleopatra only to realized that she is no longer alive . God gave me 14 days to take care of Cleopatra and I did my very best to take care of her . Her death today stop all the suffering and pain she got to feel if she is still alive . For that , I feel relieved because the suffering end here .


Lesson Learn :

-Make sure to get details medical check up / cert of the kitten b4 paying .
-Check the vaccinated date carefully coz delay vaccine do not help either .
-DON’T TRUST a breeder unless your see yourself the Medical Certificate .
-DON’T get to excited if you see beautiful cat / kitten . Their Health is the most important issue .

Spread this story to all Cat lovers community if you agree with me . I have learned my lesson . My biggest mistake is to trust people so much that I can be easily conned by this culprit .

Gary Lim advertised his cat at AdPost .( www.adpost.com.my ) and he stay somewhere near Jalan Kelang Lama .As for me , he is just another opportunist who just want to make quick money and do not bother to take any responsibilities . His pure arrogant and irresponsible attitude contribute to the death of Cleopatra .

i think it was only a few days ago when i read your thread about cleopatra and you were happy then... and the difference of today's is just so vast...

but... rejoice in knowing she is in a better place and you will get to meet her again one day... and be thankful that her last days were spent with you and your family, where she was really and truly loved and appreciated...

I am so sorry to hear your loss. May Cleopatra rest in peace. If I am not mistaken, I remember hearing that Mr. Gary administers the vacine himself. He does not bring it to the vets for proper vacination.

I am sorry to hear about Cleopatra. Often in life we lose something/someone, rest assured that one day we will meet those we have lost before.
